A Muskoka Wedding for Fernanda & Patrick

Last year we were fortunate to be in the Muskoka area twice for film commissions and were reminded each time what a glorious part of the World it is.  We hadn’t met Fernanda and Patrick before their wedding so we were eager to make our way to their place early on their wedding day to introduce ourselves and start filming.  It was quite the trek to get there with dirt roads, and shuttle buses (and later boats) but once we were there, we realized it was a little piece of paradise.

I think what really set this wedding apart from many others was the stunning location. The tiny church perched on the edge of a rock face and looking out onto the water was accessible by road, but Fernanda and Patrick decided to arrive by boat – her by water taxi, and him by one of the fastest speedboats I’ve seen.  It made for a really nice “back and forth” for their film as they each arrived separately on their way to the altar.

After a beautiful ceremony packed with lots of family and friends we jetted over with Fernanda and Patrick through the golden light of the late afternoon to their cottage where their reception was set to take place on a 5000 sq ft floating platform.  Kudos to Melissa Haggerty at SpectacularSpectacular and her team for pulling THIS one off!  Everything looked stunning and all the guests remained on solid footing all night long!

We had the pleasure of filming alongside Internationally acclaimed photographer Jerry Ghionis and his wife Melissa for Fernanda and Patrick’s wedding which was also meant a great time chatting and showing them our little piece of Canada!

Here is the “coming soon” highlights clip that we put together for them ~ enjoy!

Sonia + Adam’s Same-Day-Edit

Sonia first came into our lives nearly 2 years ago when she approached us to film her brother’s wedding.  She actually specified that she wanted us to create one of our same-day-edits for them to enjoy at their reception the night of their wedding.  At the time she wasn’t engaged although she said “one day” she would like us to do the same for her – when the time came :)

Well the time finally came and I can still remember the exuberant email from her announcing her engagement. Fast-forward nearly a year from then and there we were at her wedding, creating a full length film and of course, her same-day-edit.

Below is what we created for them ~ I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed making it!  Congrats again, guys!

Erin + Rob’s Same-Day-Edit

Erin and Rob were so much fun from the moment I met them.  They were so excited to see our portfolio and to imagine the possibilities of a film for their wedding day.  Fast-forward a few months and it was quite the sight to see.  I’m talking not only about the décor, of course, but also how the two of them were able to maintain their sense of fun and excitement throughout the entire day.  Wedding days can be exhausting for people.  There’s the culmination of all the planning, the photos (smiling) all day, and the visiting with all of the guests.  Erin and Rob sailed through it all and had a magical day/evening.  Below is the same-day-edit that we created for them.  Their story is also featured in the latest issue of WedLuxe Magazine – Eastern Canada (on newsstands now).  Enjoy the clip!

Engage ’12 The Breakers

This past week was one of the busiest one for us all year.  We had shoots in Vancouver, West Palm Beach, and Toronto.  Let’s just say that planes were our best (and at times) our worst friends along our journey! :)

One of the shoots that we filmed and edited was for the Engage ’12 Luxury Business Conference at the gorgeous Breakers Hotel in West Palm Beach, Florida.  We’ve filmed the Engage conferences in the past (1, 2, 3) and even filmed the previous one at the Breakers in 2010 but each and every time we arrive at this hotel and see it combined with everything that the Engage conference offers, we’re blown away.

The conference took place from Sunday Dec 9th – Tuesday Dec 11th.  We filmed all of the 3 days and showed the edit below at the “after party” at around 11 pm.

We hope everyone had a great time at the conference and hope you enjoy the clip (again)!

Ashleigh + Steve’s Highlights

Ashleigh + Steve were married in picturesque Muskoka, Canada this past summer.  They had an amazing day which combined incredible emotion with unbelievable décor.  It was a pleasure to be a part of it and to create the highlights clip for them below.

Ashleigh + Steve are featured in the current East Coast print edition of WedLuxe Magazine. Here is how their wedding story was featured.

WedLuxe Magazine: Our first TV Commercial

As part of our marketing campaign for the upcoming 2013 WedLuxe Wedding show, the team decided that we put together a tv commercial – no big deal, right?  Cloud Nine Creative owns WedLuxe Magazine and since we already produce video for our wedding and corporate clients, it made perfect sense.  It certainly was an interesting process since we rarely publish anything to television and it’s been a while since any of our clients requested an output to tv.  In the end, we worked with our production house to get the clip to CityTV and we were ready for it to appear.  Our approach for this commercial was fairly straight-forward:  To make sure that we clearly communicated that we are having our 2nd annual wedding show on Jan 6th.  There were many routes we could have taken, from the one we took, to creating an entirely new concept and filming that.  In the end we decided that this upcoming Spring would be a better time for a longer commercial since along with making sure we clearly communicated that we are having a show, we realized quite early on how fast a 30 second spot actually went!

In terms of the right timeslot, we couldn’t have decided on a better one – during The Bachelor Canada finale!  I was on a plane when the commercial premiered last Wednesday so didn’t see it live in person, but I’m so thankful for all of the positive feedback we received.  If you missed the clip, here it is below – enjoy!

10 Years and Counting!

This past weekend we hit a bit of a milestone here at the company ~ it has now officially been 10 years that we’ve been filming weddings.

I’m not sure I could have ever envisioned the journey that this would bring me on both personally and professionally. Some of you may know the background of our company, some may not.  I used to be a teacher (grade 1) and began filming weddings in 2002.  In 2004 I left teaching to join my wife, Angela at the company and I haven’t looked back since.

Throughout the years and the hundreds of weddings that we’ve now filmed, what has kept things going is without a doubt the couples that we are fortunate enough to meet every year.  It is without question a unique profession, one that is focussed on one of the happiest days in peoples’ lives. With that, has brought a sense of family to whomever we’re filming.  Everyone has been so welcoming towards us into their lives and it has been our absolute pleasure to document it for them.

We have been fortunate enough to create wedding films all over the World, from Canada, the US, The Philippines, Ireland, Mauritius (off the coast of South Africa), Singapore, Hawaii, Mexico etc etc etc.  Italy and France have eluded us to date, but I’m hoping that changes soon.  Thanks to all of our couples who have either hired us within Canada or have trusted us enough to bring us to where they are located in the World.

Once again – thank you to all of our past clients and our entire team is looking forward to meeting so many more of you in the years to come – here’s to 10 more years (or more)!
